Happy Monday

I hadn’t been paying much attention to things like the sunrise, but that old sun had been coming up anyway. It didn’t really care how I felt, it was going to rise and set regardless of whether I noticed it, and if I was going to enjoy it, that was up to me.

Lovely

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life."
- John Lennon

Two very classy ladies, in my opinion.

“i don’t know how long i can do this, he said. i think the universe has different plans for me & we sat there in silence & i thought to myself that this is the thing we all come to & this is the thing we all fight & if we are lucky enough to lose, our lives become beautiful with mystery again & i sat there silent because that is not something that can be said.”

Happy Wednesday

"I was born with an enormous need for affection,
and a terrible need to give it."
-Audrey Hepburn

"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could."
-Louise Erdrich

Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well that's just fabulous

On planning

I believe we write our own stories. And each time we think we know the end - we don’t. Perhaps luck exists somewhere between the world of planning, the world of chance, and in peace that comes from knowing that you just can’t know it all. You know, life’s funny that way. Once you let go of the wheel, you might end up right where you belong.

I used to be an almost obsessive compulsive planner.
I always wrote down everything on my calendar
and had a specific "Plan" for myself.
But, after a few things in life went completely opposite to what I had planned,
I learned the important lesson of letting it go
It's not necessary to plan out every detail.
In fact, it's impossible.

Sometimes you just have to wing it.
And well, " you might end up right where you belong."

SpRiNg BrEaK!

I spent a couple of lovely days in
St.George last weekend
and to be honest,
I almost didn't come home.

A couple of my friends,
my mom, and I went down
and stayed a few days in a friend's condo.
We sat out by the pool,
(and even got sunburned a little)
read, watched Gilmore Girls, went to a movie,
and ate frozen yogurt.

  Monday we drove to Vegas
and spent the day shopping
(the best kind of day in my opinion).
Then my Mom and I went and saw
The Lion King!
And it was fabulous.
Their costumes are amazing.
You should go see it.
Unfortunately they don't let you
take pictures so I only have this one.

This week is my only
break from school until
July because of my
Summer Business Study Abroad program,
(that starts the Monday after Spring semester ends)
so I'm enjoying doing absolutely nothing
till Monday.

Love this

"Your light is seen, your heart is known, your soul is cherished by more people than you might imagine…If you knew how many others have been touched in wonderful ways by you, you would be astonished. If you knew how many people feel so much for you, you would be shocked…You are far more wonderful than you think you are… Rest with that. Rest easy with that. Breathe again. You are doing fine. More than fine. Better than fine. You’re doin’ great. So relax. And love yourself today.”
— Neale Donald Walsch

"I often feel like I want to think something but I can’t find the language that coincides with the thoughts, so it remains felt, not thought. Sometimes I feel like I’m thinking in Swedish without knowing Swedish."

Happy New Year

(via)

May your coming year be filled with magic
and dreams and good madness.
I hope you read some fine books and
kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful,
and don’t forget to make some art —
write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.
And I hope, somewhere in the next year,
you surprise yourself.

Just some thoughts

"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness, looking for peace. they chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. the irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within."
[ramona l. anderson]

"Growing up is never easy. you hold onto things that once were. you wonder what's to come. but that night, i think we knew it was time to let go of what had been, and look ahead to what would be. other days. new days. days to come. the thing is, we didn't have to hate each other for getting older. we just had to forgive ourselves...for growing up."
 [the wonder years]

"The most important things are the hardest things to say
They are the things you get ashamed of because words diminish them - words shrink things that seemed limitless when they were in your head to no more than living size when they're brought out. But it's more than that, isn't it?
The most important things lie too close to wherever your secret heart is buried, like landmarks to a treasure your enemies would love to steal away.
And you may make revelations that cost you dearly
only to have people look at you in a funny way, not understanding what you've said at all, or why you thought it was so important that you almost cried while you were saying it. That's the worst, I think. When the secret stays locked within not for want of a teller, but for want of an understanding ear."

Mmhhmm

You fall in love and it doesn’t work out, and you think that it’ll never happen again, but it does. Believe me, it does. In the strangest of places.
 -Dawson's Creek

A hug can turn your day around, it’s like an emotional Heimlich. Someone puts their arms around you, and they give you a squeeze and all your fear and anxiety comes shooting out of your mouth, and you can breathe again.
-Pushing Daisies

So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I’m still trying to figure out how that could be.
-Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower)

Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.
-Lao Tzu
